Our Philosophy

Only a Goalie Knows the Feeling...

There is a bond shared by goaltenders that is similar to the one shared by soldiers who have been through battle together. If you haven't played the position, you just don't get it. Sometimes, it seems the more you try to explain goaltending to non-goalies, the stranger you sound. This is probably why we have the stigma of being a little bit off!

The pressure on a goaltender is unmatched. Players make dozens of mistakes a game. A goaltender cannot afford a single one. No matter how badly your team is playing, if the other team can't get the puck by you, your team won't lose.

Because of this extreme pressure, no position in any sport better prepares one to deal with life's trials. Goaltending teaches you how to lead, how to be cool under pressure, how to focus, and how to put failure aside so that you can succeed.

Goaltenders are strong individuals and leaders of men, on and off the ice.

I have been a professional goalie coach for six years now, and I have spent the last five years with the Los Angeles Junior Kings organization. Developing goaltenders is my passion.

I refer to my personal philosophy for goaltending training as the cycle of success:

The more saves you make, the more fun you have. The more fun you have, the harder you work. The harder you work, the better you get. The better you get, the more saves you make.

I run small goaltending clinics in various rinks throughout Southern California. I work with goaltenders of all ages, from those just learning to skate, to those preparing for tier hockey, to men's league goalies that just want to make more saves.

If you are ready to take your game to the next level, and start enjoying your hockey even more, email me @ miller.matt.f@gmail.com, to reserve a spot at one of my clinics, or to set up a private lesson.
